Boxing Day walk to FC United
On Boxing Day we’re going to set off from Victory Park at 5:30am to walk 24 miles to the home of FC United at Broadhurst Park in Moston.
Each year we choose a local good cause to support, and half the total raised this year will go to Chorley Help the Homeless. Homelessness is rising across the country and Chorley is sadly no exception. The money raised for Chorley Help the Homeless will allow their network of professionals and specialist volunteers to provide support to local families and individuals who have nowhere safe to live, or who are about to lose their home. You can find out more about their work at http://www.chth.org.uk/
The other half will go to our own Fan Ownership Fund. We think the best owners for Chorley FC are its supporters. Fan ownership is the best way to guarantee a long-term future for the club we love, and to keep it at the heart of our local community. It’s a tried and tested route to stability, with plenty of success stories to inspire us. In our division alone, Bradford Park Avenue, FC United, Chester and Darlington are owned by their supporters. The fund currently stands at over £25000.
Last year thirteen walkers raised a total of £3200 between them. Please support us this Christmas as we raise money for local good causes. If you’d like to join us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet @cfcst. Or indeed just turn up at Victory Park first thing on Boxing Day! Last year a few people did just that!
