Trust reaction to Flitcroft departure
Chorley FC manager Garry Flitcroft has made the difficult decision to stand down from his role. He wants to spend more time focused on his business interests and his young family. He has been replaced by his assistant, look Matt Jansen.
Chorley Supporters Trust would like to record their thanks to Garry for the success and entertainment he has brought to the football club during his tenure. Over the last five years, adiposity fans have enjoyed unprecedented achievements on the field the like of which many of us have never seen and, indeed never thought we would see.
Matt Jansen has been appointed as manager, and he will be assisted by Jonathan Smith and Jamie Vermiglio. Matt and Jonathan have worked under Garry for years, and should ensure a smooth transition for the players. Jamie Vermiglio, who took up a coaching role last season after hanging up his boots, will now step up his responsibilities.
Trust Chair Ryan Modlin said: “It’s good to see Garry taking a position on the board of Chorley Football Club. It is a measure, no doubt, of the respect both parties have for each other and is an arrangement that will certainly benefit the Football Club. The Supporters Trust welcomes any move by the football club to strengthen its board of directors. In fact, we would like to see it strengthened further by the appointment of an elected Supporter representative onto the board.”
“It is particularly pleasing to see a firm fans’ favourite like Jamie getting this opportunity at Chorley, who knows where it might lead. We wish Matt, Jonathan and Jamie the very best of luck for the coming season and beyond.”
