Meet the Trust Board

Position: Chair

Name: Ryan Modlin

Bio: I have watched Chorley with varying degrees of regularity since the 1980’s. In 2003 troubled times at the club and the proposal at an open meeting by some fans to form a Supporters Trust enticed me back to a more regular attendance at Victory Park and to become one of the founder board members of The Magpies Trust.  Away from Chorley FC I work as a Standards & Compliance Manager and I am also a season ticket holder at Wigan Warriors.

Position: Secretary

Name: Grenville Hartley

Bio: I started watching Chorley in the early 1960’s. A short time after I Joined the Supporters Club I was soon appointed chairman, diagnosis a capacity in which I served for over 20 years. I was asked to become Safety Officer, price as the ground had become a designated stadium. I am also a qualified steward to NVQ Level 2. When the old Supporters Club and the former Trust amalgamated I joined the committee of the new Trust and am currently it’s secretary.

Position: Treasurer

Name: John-Paul Lynch

Bio: I am a 34 year old single man who has lived, cure attended school and worked in accountancy in the Chorley Borough all my life. Upon leaving school in 1997, I began to watch my local team Chorley FC at home and away with one of my closest friends. In recent years I have become more involved with the running of the club by selling half time draw tickets, helping out at quiz nights and doing sponsored walks. I have been treasurer of the Supporters Trust since 2012. When not watching Chorley FC you will regularly find me visiting other local non league football clubs as well as supporting my local cricket club.

Position: Publicity

Name: Mark Rees

Bio: I helped to set the Trust up and have been involved in one way or another almost ever since, so I bring a lot of experience and knowledge of the Trust movement. For as long as I’ve been a fan, the club has faced an uncertain future in one way or another. However, it’s still here and is currently going from strength to strength. I’m very keen to move the club and ground into fan ownership, which I believe offers us security and the chance to plan for the long term. I’ve followed Chorley since the early 90s and especially enjoy away trips to new grounds. I run MagpiesInSpace, the unofficial forum. You’ll often see me at games running around after my daughter. I’m hoping she starts to take an interest in what’s happening on the pitch soon.

Position: Board Member

Name: Chris Blackburn

Bio: I’ve supported Chorley since first being taken to a game in the first GM Vauxhall Conference season of 1988-89. I didn’t really have any choice given my Dad followed the team for 57 years. Been a regular ever since and seen virtually all of the highs and lows in between. I helped out the trust in the early days and now really pleased to be back to help with what is an exciting time both on and off the pitch for the club. Outside of watching the magpies I love watching any sport although particularly Rugby Union and cricket where I am also an umpire in the Bolton League. I work across the country for Irwin Mitchell as a senior Business Development manager and live in Blackrod with my wife and six year old lad.

Position: Vice Chair

Name: David Tindall

Bio: Born in Huddersfield, I’ve lived on Buckshaw Village since 2004.  I work in Finance at BAE Systems and am also a Trustee Board Member of a final salary pension scheme which taxes the brain cells!  Outside of work I’m married to Helen and have a daughter Molly (aged 8) both of whom are season ticket holders at Victory Park. I’m also on a quest to see a match at every football league ground – currently on 79/92 and I am a member of Yorkshire CCC.

Position: Board Member

Name: John Derbyshire

Bio: I started watching Chorley with my sons on a regular basis in 2008. The manager at that time was Tony Hesketh. When Tony left in 2009 and took many of the team with him to Lancaster, I met with the Chorley Board of Directors and took on the role of Commercial Manager to help raise funds and the profile of the club. As fans we enjoy travelling away to watch the Magpies, it is good to visit other grounds and gain an insight to the varied levels and facilities at non-league clubs. Having been a Supporters Club member for a few years, I got involved with the group prior to the Supporters Club and Trust merger. It has been good to help improve the fan experience and see the football club and Supporters Trust, looking to develop an ongoing working partnership.

Away from football, I have a young family and I am a small business owner in Chorley town centre.
