Statement on our use of the Social Club and membership fees
Chorley FC Supporters Trust wish to address rumours and speculative comments which
have appeared on social media following the last Trust meeting regarding money owed by
the club to the Trust and to fees charged to the Trust for use of social club facilities.
As part of building our close working partnership with the club, all 2019/20 season ticket
holders were made members of the Trust. The first £1 of a first membership fee is effectively
a ‘share purchase’ for the new member so, as part of the trust accounts, we need to hold a
£1 for each member as part of our audit process. This amounted to £261. Trust membership
costs £10 per annum, so the 90% balance must appear on our books for audit purposes
but will be effectively waived and not be chargeable to the club, as it was in
any case intended to be used for the benefit of Chorley FC.
Additionally, we can confirm that, in line with all users of the football club facilities, we have
been asked to make a payment towards staff and running costs and that we have agreed to
do so. We will continue to hold our monthly member’s meetings and events at the club.
CFCST is committed to supporting Chorley FC as best it can. This has been a difficult
season for various reasons and recent events have cast the club and its directors in a bad
light. We believe that the support of Chorley FC fans is needed now more than ever and that
negative comments on social media are counterproductive, potentially harmful and certainly
not conducive to the process of repairing any damaged relationships within the Magpie
Family and improving the club’s situation generally as soon as possible.
