Chorley Supporters Trust hails Victory Park lease agreement
We welcome the fantastic news that Chorley FC have agreed a fifteen year lease with landlords Chorley Borough Council to play at Victory Park. Credit is due to both parties for getting together and working out a common sense solution which will see Chorley FC stay in the ground which has been home since 1919. The council have been very decent in agreeing a peppercorn rent and a reasonable length of tenure. This will allow the club to plan for the future with more certainty and stability. It should also open up some sources of funding which were previously unavailable.
With Chorley FC’s success on and off the pitch this decade, the club has become a more important part of the local community. The recent launch of Chorley FC Community Trust sees the club partnering with the Council to work with local sports and community groups. This deal feels like a natural extension of what is becoming a very valuable partnership for the club and the town.
Welcoming the deal, Trust chair Dave Tindall said: “Chorley Supporters Trust has always stressed the importance of securing a long term lease, and we’re delighted that it’s finally happened. We know Chorley FC have been working very hard on this deal and it’s great news that they have struck such a positive arrangement with the Council.”
