The final countdown
In a mere 6 days time another nail biting season will come to an end for us all. There have been many ups and downs along the way through what can only be described as a fantastic and exciting time to be a Magpie supporter. Not one person who lives in our small market town can grumble at the effort Garry and the players have put into the title challenge this season. It is amazing how many locals did not actually know we had a football team until Garry Flitcroft and Matt Jansen took over what has always been described as a “sleeping giant” in the non-league scene. Before the football season curtain comes down, order there are two very important games taking place which will define who leaves the Evo-Stik Northern Premier league as champions and who has to fight through the play-off lottery.
The Easter Saturday fixture saw us take the long trip across the country and face a Whitby team who did everything they could to spoil or party. A battling point was brought back to Lancashire as FC United managed to come from behind twice and see off Stamford. AFC Fylde put their title hopes to bed with a 2-0 defeat against Grantham. The results mean Chorley are still 1 point clear at the top of the table with two games remaining.
